Rae Marie Out On The Town
This past weekend, the Hat Girls had a chance to spend a night out with some of our best friends and family. Amanda happens to love Nick Swardson and the movie Grandma's Boy. When she found out he was going to be performing in La Jolla, she wanted us all to go. We had the best night with 6 others in our crew and we made hats for the occasion...of course!
Each friend got to pick his or her favorite one liner from a Nick Swardson movie or show. They sent it to us and we made matching hats for all of us to wear. From the time we all met up and put them on, the laughter was endless.
We rode the Coaster, a train that takes us into San Diego, and got a LOT of attention with our matching hats. People were laughing, commenting, and telling us what a great idea the hats were. We made our way to Old Town, San Diego for some authentic Mexican food and cocktails and got more attention walking down the main street and eating at Cafe Coyote. We even got serenaded by some mariachis. It was already a great night and the show had not even started yet.
After a quick Uber ride over to the La Jolla Comedy Store, we were impatiently waiting in line to see Nick and the other comedians. Everyone in line was laughing and joking about our hats. We were a hit. We got seated near the front of the venue and grabbed the attention of the opening comedian, Bijan Mostafavi. He loved the hats and of course had to make us part of his jokes. We all laughed so hard.
Nick didn't end up seeing our hats since part of his set that night was about not being able to see after forty. Kind of ironic...(don't you think?) HA HA! Anyhow, the closing comedian also made us part of the jokes and the laughter kept going. On our way out, we spoke to Bijan and told him how much fun he had. We sent him a thank you and group pic on Instagram which he took a screenshot of and sent to Nick.
Guess what...NICK MESSAGED BACK!!!!
Nick said he loved the hats and it topped the night off in the perfect way. We are so grateful to our amazing crew of friends that went along with the one-liner hats to make our night out even more fun.
There are two lessons to be learned here...
1. Get yourself a crew as fun and as dedicated to helping you succeed as ours!
2. Make group hats for your next night out or for your next trip/event.
We had the best time and can't wait for our next Hat Girl adventure! Let us know if we can help you make your next night out as memorable as this one was!
